Back the Grind, Semester #2
It's February, and I'm a month into school. Things have only picked up since last semester.
It's February, and I'm a month into school. Things have only picked up since last semester.
I had my clinical orientation Tuesday, October 2nd. And, it feels so surreal now. I can't believe it's already October. Or, that we've reached the middle of the semester. My first semester of nursing school is really flying by. Orientation day started off as a very busy morning for me. I took a shower the night before, so when I woke up at 0600, all I had to do was brush my teeth, wash my face, and get dressed.I was required to wear the red clinical scrubs for orientation. It was honestly pretty fun being able to wear them for…
Rounding up this week with my 7th weekly nursing school recap writeup, I'm still shocked by how much has happened and how quickly school has been going by. This week was kind of a big one for me. We finished the last of our nursing school check offs, and we also started clinicals. So, I have a lot to share with you guys.Monday:Lecture day we started Chapter 11: Assessing which breaks down the assessment portion of ADPIE and the nursing processing. Tuesday:We had our clinical orientation which ran from 0800 to 1230. This took place at the hospital, and I will have…
It's Friday, Friday, Gotta Get Down On Friday. And with today, week #6 of nursing school draws to a close. This week is kind of a major one for me. It was my 26th birthday, and we had our second to last clinical skill check off before we start clinicals next week. On top of that, we learned the skills for our final skill check off for next week as well. Monday: We started part one of our lecture for health assessment. It was a very chill day and even the lecture was largely just a relaxed discussion.Tuesday:Off day.Wednesday:We had an in class quiz,…
Late weekly recap, I got busy at work due to a certain release of a new phone.I wrapped up week #5 of nursing school, and I cannot believe how quickly this semester has been flying by. I'm already 1/3 of the way through my first semester of nursing school. I'm both excited and terrified because I've already learned so much and have become so much more confident during my check offs, but I also understand that there's so many gaps in my knowledge that need to be filled. Now then, to the recap!Monday:Lecture covered medication administration. We had a open discussion…
I can't believe I'm doing a recap for week #4 already. I've been in nursing school for a whole month now. I really didn't expect time to fly by this quickly, and I'm both grateful and anxious about this. It's honestly both exciting and shocking to be able to say that. This week was both eventful and uneventful. I think I'm finally settling into the whole nursing school pacing bit, and now I don't feel like we're flying through everything. Monday: We had exam 1. It covered 9 chapters, and we had 2 hours to take it. The entire class was…
Hi guys, it's that time again, for another nursing school weekly recap! Time seems to fly with these, I really feel like I did last week's just two days ago. This week wasn't as busy as the weeks before, we did have a holiday on Monday. Monday: Labor day, no school. I think I studied, or just relaxed. I honestly don't remember. Tuesday: Off day, like all of my Tuesdays. However, I was supposed to go to the school's nursing lab after work to practice my sterile wound dressing skill but due to the inclement weather from Hurricane Gordon, I…
Good afternoon, lovely people. It is Friday, and we have a 3 day weekend just around the corner. So, let me go ahead and just recap you on what happened for this week! It was a little busy and very stressful, but definitely worth it. I'm actually loving this nursing class and the lab portion to be honest. Monday: Regular lecture day, we covered chapter 23 which was about Asepsis and Infection Control. We were also supposed to cover chapter 31, but we ran out of time and my professor uploaded the audio lecture for us to listen to it instead.…
Hey everyone! It is currently Sunday, and my first week of nursing school has drawn to a close. I wanted to do a recap of all the things we covered so that you guys can get a feel for how fast paced and rigorous the program can be. This is especially relevant and pertinent to people who may have to find child care or handle work scheduling and availability while in school. Even though it is only the first week of school, some of my classmates are already running into issues with child care because there’s still some ambiguity about…
Well you guys, today was the big day! I had my first day of nursing school. I've actually had a really long day today. My day ran from 6:00AM to 8:40PM, and that was after getting out of my night class early. It's scheduled to end at 8:45PM normally. I'm fairly exhausted because I didn't get to eat much between class and finishing some last minute school errands like figuring out my parking tag, but I really wanted to do this write up tonight. I also know that if I don't do it now, I'll just end up forgetting and…
